Funny Video

I found this video on another blog that I read. It is really funny! Especially after teaching a class on SMART Notebook this past week. Students are fearless with computers, but adults can be so frustrating!!

Lately, I've been able to spend more time with my family! It has been great. I think it is because we have not had very many meetings lately. We had parent/teacher conferences, but I spread them out over the whole week, so it wasn't too bad. Since I didn't have them back to back on Thursday, I was able to get plans done for the next week! Confession: That week was the only week I had my lesson plans done before going home on Friday! And I wasn't able to do it for this next week either. I just finished them while Ethan was taking his naps this weekend. I guess as long as they are done, right?!

We had fun this week with Halloween! Ethan was Cookie Monster! He went trick-or-treating for the first time. It only took him 2 houses to figure out what to do and (most importantly) why! CANDY! I think he is permanently ruined now! He used to never want to eat candy or sweets. Now he asks for candy several times a day. We are rationing his candy pretty well though!

I'm now bracing myself for this next week. I have a 4-hour class on Monday night and am teaching a 2-hour workshop on Wednesday. These are both things I have put on myself and will enjoy them. I will just have to be a good time manager to get everything else done!

Well, I hear some breathing behind me. It must be Ethan up from his nap! We're going to Battlefield Station Family Hobbies to play with some trains this afternoon!

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TEACHER?

BY JEFF FOXWORTHY

This was shared this morning by a teacher I work with! I know all of these are true for me! Especially #20! Parent conferences, anyone?! :)

1. You can hear 25 voices behind you and know exactly which one belongs to the child out of line. 2. You get a secret thrill out of laminating something.
3. You walk into a store and hear the words 'It's Ms/Mr. and know you have been spotted.
4. You have 25 people that accidentally call you Mom/Dad at one time or another.
5. You can eat a multi-course meal in under fifteen minutes.
6. You've trained yourself to go to the bathroom at two distinct times of the day: lunch and prep period.
7. You start saving other people's trash, because most likely, you can use that toilet paper tube or plastic butter tub for something in the classroom.
8. You believe the teachers' lounge should be equipped with a margarita machine.
9. You want to slap the next person who says, 'Must be nice to work 8 to 4 and have summers off.'
10. You believe chocolate is a food group.
11. You can tell if it's a full moon without ever looking outside.
12. You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says, 'Boy, the kids sure are mellow today.'
13. You feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their behavior when you are out in public.
14. You think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.
15. You spend more money on school stuff than you do on your own children.
16. You can't pass the school supply aisle without getting at least five items!
17. You ask your friends if the left hand turn he just made was a 'good choice or a bad choice.'
18. You find true beauty in a can full of perfectly sharpened pencils.
19. You are secretly addicted to hand sanitizer and finally,
20. You understand instantaneously why a child behaves a certain way after meeting his or her parents.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Great site for busy moms!

This is a cross post from my Lit Picks and Tech Tips blog, but it I thought it was worth double sharing! :) I found the best "mom blog" called Mommy Cooks. The lady who writes the blog shares her meal plans for the week and shares the best family-friendly recipes. I use her site all of the time to come up with things to eat, and every recipe I have tried has been great. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

The First Post

Welcome Moms!

I have been wanting to create this blog for some time now and have finally gotten around to it. This has been a busy, crazy school year so far, and I need a place to share, vent, and brag about my family and my work. And I want to hear about everyone else's family and work too! Please, please, please share what is going on in your family and how work is going. And feel free to pass this blog along to any other working moms you know. We may not have time to cook 3-course, well-balanced meals, but we can take a few minutes to brag on our kids, vent about work, or share words of encouragement with each other!

I'll start by sharing my most recent "working mom" dilemma. I am getting ready to leave for MITC (technology conference) in a couple of hours. I am very excited about this PD opportunity, but I will be gone for 2 days, so I've been preparing for my presentation and to have a sub, while feeling guilty about leaving Michael and Ethan. I know they will be fine without me (Michael is so great about this kind of thing), but I will miss them. Ethan is at such a fun age right now. I know, they are all fun ages, but I'm especially enjoying this one. He is talking A LOT and interacting with us in ways he hasn't been able to before. I wish I could just bring him with me to the conference! Michael says he will take pictures and email them to me to check at the conference! That should help.

Anyway, like I said, I will be using this blog to brag, vent, and share, so please join me!
